FX Sails?

Does anyone have experience buying and using FX sails from Sailnet? The price looks good and I need a new RF headsail. Witht the 10% discount and free shipping I am considering a new main as well. If you have one how has it held up? Didi you get the inshore or offshore and what are your thoughts on that?

I have a Bristol 32 and sail mostly on the chesapeake bay.

Thanks!

Jeff

Got a mainsail from FX a few years ago, very happy with the product and service even if a bit slow for delivery.
I have a headsail on order, delivery 4 to 5 weeks.

My sailing is inshore, Delaware River and occasional into Delaware Bay. The offshore sails are more product than I need.

They didn't work for me, it took two returns and a year to get a main done acceptably, and even then I just settled. My advice is to work with a local sailmaker, the extra cost is worth avoiding aggravation.

You might also consider NorthSailsDirect and National Sail Supply if you are willing to do the measuring yourself to save some money.

What do the "I" "J" "P" "E" numbers stand for specifically?

I = vertical distance headsail shackle at mast top to deck
J = horizontal distance shackle at top of furling drum or shackle at deck for hank on, to front face of mast.
P = vertical distance mainsail head shackle to tack shackle on boom
E = horizontal distance rear face of mast and clew shackle.

Measure several times, confirm with sail maker, you may want to have sail dimensions shorter but not longer than the IPJE dimensions.

Talk by phone or in person with the sail maker before placing the order.

I bought my A-sail from them two years ago. Don't leave the dock without it. Customer service was outstanding.
