dinghy painter floats?

Almost ate my dinghy once when backing down to anchor. I see some painters with cork or plastic floats that would help prevent that...so where can they be found? Any good ideas out there?

Float will help. Or a floating line like polypropylene. Or just remember to shorten up on the painter.

I use those on the first 20 or so feet of my line and they do the trick. You can get them at any commercial fishing chandlery or net loft and they're cheep. They are made of various materials but they're all called corks. They're used on cork lines and on commercial nets to keep one edge of the net up.

Easy and cheap is to go down to your favorite drug store, Walmart or Kmart get one of those swim noodles with a hole in the middle of it for a buck! Bring it home, cut it up in 6" sections, put about 3-4 of them on your painter and Presto instant float line.
