Painting the ABS plastic liner of my cabin?
Hey Folks...maybe I'm in the wrong forum but has anyone ever tried to fair and smooth out and then paint an old 70's style ABS plastic liner This type of plastic liner is still very common on cars, buses, planes.etc and they were used on sides and ceilings of lots of 70's/80's boats and aircraft like Cessnas.
Anyways, my new boat has a full cabin liner that is starting to look like real rough and has old mounting holes and so forth.... I am thinking about patching the holes with epoxy and then slowly fairing out the " orange peel-looking" ABS liner surface with epoxy and painting..will epoxy stick if i give it a good sanding? Or should I skip epoxy all together and just sand and go with a good white oil enamel like rustoleum and build that up to a smooth surface with a few coats...? ...What kind of results do you think I might achieve with either route?
Thanks in advance...Morgan
