Sailing Endorsement to 50GT Master

I just received the approval letter to test at the REC in Baltimore for my sailing endorsement. The letter states my test will be Module018-Deck Safety and Rules of the Road 70% pass. I called Martinsburg WV, but they didn't really answer my question. I thought the test was a 10 question format about sailing trim and such. Can anyone shed some light with their experience?
Thanks.

Years ago I sat for the exam for the original license. I recall it had a sailing addendum of questions (some of which were pretty archaic in subject matter). I would think that's what they would give you in addition to the rules of the road, which they tend to give you whenever you upgrade or renew a license.

I only found one sample test at Boatsafe.com. Had questions about gaff rigs and square rigs. Archaic stuff. I'm just curious why it's titled Deck Safety on my letter.

When I took my tests the sailing endorsement test was I believe a ten question test on sailing related items. It sounds like they are going to make you take the Deck and Rules sections again in addition to the sailing section.

I have that endorsement. There were 10 questions on my test covering sail nomenclature, sailboat configurations, points of sail, sail trim, rules of the road, and parts of the sailboat. I don't remember it being difficult if you've got a bit of experience and give the handout a good look. My license shows Aux. Sail Endorsement though.

I have that auxillary sail endorsement too and I recall a couple of the questions were archaic, as posted above, and dealt with care of canvass sails. Maybe this has changed since I took the test some decades ago!

I do remember the pictures being really old. Almost as if the sloop/cutter hadn't been invented.

Well, finally took the test today at the CG Exam Center. 20 questions, got a 90%. Had some simple ones like what is a gooseneck on the mast for, but some archaic quesitons pertaining to caulking a wood hull. I said drydock and caulk wet. Don't know if that was right, but kinda made sense to me. Figure if I am ever in a position to do that, someone will tell me what to do. Thanks for the replies.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
