Slips/mooring near NYC

Any recommendation? I live in battery park but the north cove is too pricey, 79th boat basin has a 2 year wait list but mooring is available. I don't want to spend too much but I don't want to be too far either. Thanks!

How about Liberty Landing?

It meets all of your needs except one. There is a water taxi from Battery Park to the Marina (or take the PATH and walk, take the same water taxi for $1). With the water taxi you would be there in less than 10 minutes. They have excellent facilities and good protection from wakes in the river. The only downside is that they are not cheap, but probably not out of line for the area. We were there for 18 months before going off cruising and very much enjoyed the place. Perhaps you could go there while you work your way up the waiting list at 79th St?

Location is great and close but that is a little pricey. That's about 4k for the season. I would rather go the mooring route at 79th street which is only 1550, much bigger difference.

Have you checked out Pier 40? The small mooring field just south of the parking garage/athletic fields? Hudson River Park - Pier 40 Moorings
There are about 16 moorings and I think there still seem to be 2 unused moorings.
It is run by NYC Parks dept and there should be someone to talk to inside the Pier 40 building Parks offices.
Good luck.

Have you considered LIS? Lots of good marinas close to NYC. I dont have a car and I live in Manhattan. My boat is in Brewers Capri marina in P. Washington. Train leaves Penn every 1/2 hour and it is only a 45 min ride. You can sail in LIS and you are also close to the East river. Great location!

If you've ever stayed at 79th st boat basin you know that the docks rock like hell all day and night from the wakes in the hudson. For the money, I'd much rather be on the mooring than slamming into the docks all day long.

Checked pier 40, all full. 79th would be nice but they reccommend a dingy with around 5hp because of the current and the available moorings are pretty far out. Marine basin marina is near Coney Island and have good prices, but I joust might shell out the money for Liberty Landing, it's the best location to me and the ferry goes right there which is perfect.
