Rudder / tiller question

I recently found a rudder tiller assembly while scuba diving. I am interested in finding out more about it, specifically the way in which it attaches to the boat. Instead of pins (pintles?) on the rudder, there are two square pieces that seem to fit on a track that would be on the rear of the boat.

Can anybody help me find what sort of boat this might belong to...age, style ect?
