Cut off from the land that bore us, betrayed by the land we find, where the brightest have gone before us and the dullest remain behind, .......but stand to your glasses, steady,.......tis all we have left to prize, raise a cup to the dead already, hurrah for the next that dies

Scuba Diving in the Great Lakes is a real treat.
Unfortunately, there are a possible 4,262 ship wrecks in the Great Lake, and when you dive on them, there is a feeling that's undescribable.....
The Great Lakes were of huge in importance to the industrial age bringing goods to the midwest and west. Kind of a gold rush, in shipping. The down side is that the Lakes were so unforgiving in terms of weather and conditions... many experienced sea-going Captains never met with such a beast and lost not only their lives, but their crew along with them.
It's the largest graveyard of ships in the world.
God Bless those lost Mariners.
They had to be tough as nails.

Yep, once you've been caught in a storm and see the water turn brown like she's pissed at you, you'll remember that experience.

nolatom will become famous soon enough
the photos are stunning, she looks as though a good deck scrubbing and new hatch covers would get her sailng again.

These Great Lakes wrecks are an absolute knockout, and the state of preservation, whether steel, wrought iron, or especially wood, is amazing to me.

This one, at 300 feet, is way too deep for recreational divers, but that's the tradeoff I guess for her pristine condition.
