Cool new iPhone app
A friend of mine wrote a cool anchor alarm app for iPhone/iTouches. It’s called Anchors Aweigh and it works really well. Best part… he's selling it for only .99$!
FULL DISCLAIMER: I am not affiliated with my friend’s company, and I am not getting paid. My only involvement was to take him out a couple times on my boat and help him debug a couple things (ok, so technically I got a beer or two out of the deal).
The app is pretty cool. You boot it up and press a button when you drop the hook. Next you can set the depth, and scope (or set a fixed distance if you already know how much swing room you'll need). Set the alarm, and you're good to go. The home screen gives you the location of your anchor (lat and long), and a distance and direction to your anchor from your current location.
My friend is really interested in making a high quality app and realizes he's not a "boat person". He asked for my help in making his app better, and now I'm asking the Sailnet community for suggestions and feedback. If anybody is interested my friend has offered up a few coupon codes to get a free copy. PM me to get one. All I ask is that you post some feedback once you've had a chance to play with it!
Thanks!
