Question About the Light Lists

Does anyone know why the light lists available here do not have a table to determine the distance to the horizon based on height of eye or light?

A classic nav problem asks to determine the geographic distance that a light of x-feet is visible if your height of eye is y-feet above the horizon.

Bowditch and Chapman both point me to the light list for this table. I guess I can memorize D (nm) = 1.17 *SQRT( Height (feet)), but during a test a table would be easier.

Is there another (or better) place to get a copy of the light lists?

There is a nomograph on page xii of this document.

I cannot seem to copy it.

The formula is actually:

1.17 times the square root of your height of eye (in feet) + 1.17 times the square root of the height of the light above the water (in feet) = Distance in nautical miles

Plus in the light list there is a Geographic Range Table that you enter with your height of eye and the height of the light separately, then add the miles together.

Note: The Light List must be kept up to date via the Notice to Mariners.
