6 guys sharing 4 bunks
Approaching 100 degrees below decks
4" of water in the head compartment due to a leak (unknown material in said water)
Your feet had to be in the water to use the head
Some crew had different ideas as to the location of the feet and head for a given birth
No showers, baby wipes at most.
My pack was buried in the fore-peak for about 3/4s of the trip so I had no gear at all other than the clothes on my back and my weather gear.

Just curious. What was the forecast before you left Bermuda?

That actually is a good question.
We had a weather briefing by a meteorologist in a large auditorium with about 200 people.
The guy droned on for about an hour about high-pressure, low pressure, millibars, systems on the move and systems combining, radar and doppler and just about every other word in the English language.

The bottom line was that there were, I believe, three systems in play but know one knew if they were going to move, stay still or just peter out.

Waiting a day did not seem like it would have helped.
His only choice would have been to leave the boat and fly back another week.

I'm not making that call for while as it is too soon. There are many factors.

1. This was the worst storm people on the boat with over 20 years of experience had encountered.
2. This particular boat, in my opinion was probably as un-sea kindly as they get. Do you agree?
3. The crew was OK, they probably had more of an issue with me than I had with them.
4. The fundamental nature of this boat is that it needs a bunch of people to sail. Six guys in 4 bunks in weather that hot is gross.
5. I had some serious internal plumbing problems of my own that frankly made the whole experience at least 300 percent more difficult.
6. We had a schedule to keep so we keep slogging through instead of heaving too.
7. The head compartment had 6" of water in it the whole trip.
8. I did not take a sea sickness medication

The exact same storm in different boat with my own bunk, a dry head and feeling better would have been a different experience I'm sure.
