Generally, to keep your boat in a marina, you will be required to have a minimum amount of liability insurance. If you're planning on just anchoring out most of the time, you might be able to get away without having insurance, but that is a personal decision.
As for florida, do a search of the site forums using the tips you'll find in the POST in my signature and read the rest of the post to figure out how to get the most out of your time on sailnet
