The schooner Alabama of Vineyard Haven ran aground in the Mystic River Wednesday night.

She spent about 24 hours aground and was freed last night.

It can get tricky there. Three channels come together so the buoyage and marks can get confusing. There can be a hefty current setting you, and (as is apparent) it's not overly deep.

They were in the channel. From what I have read, she draws about 12'6".

Divers today are inspecting her keel

She looks a lot better when she is floating. She left Noank Friday night and is reportedly back in Vineyard Haven

I was on Martha's Vineyard this past week. And on Saturday afternoon about 5pm I saw the Alabama.

I suppose this was on her return to home port.
