Fire in Menemsha

An ugly fire in one of my favorite towns. Apparently no one was hurt, thank God. Hopefully, what is built in place of the old Coast Guard building will not change the character of this charming harbor.

nolatom will become famous soon enough
What a shame. Glad no one was hurt, at least.

I remember this as a kid, and also as a Coastie visiting the Vineyard and the Elizabeth Islands.

Well said... one of my favorites as well... and one of the last small working fishing harbors in the country AFAIK.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
