Sweaty cushions? (underneath)

Trying to find something to lessen the moisture under the cushions.

Was curious about this brand: "HyperVent Condensation Preventer" good/bad experiences?

Or for that matter, other types/brands/tricks etc.

That hypervent material looks like good stuff, but it seems awfully pricey. Once you've gone that far you might also think about a Froli setup to get a little comfort upgrade while you are at it.

Doesn't that just trap more moisture?

Nope. In fact, maybe the opposite.

moisture under cushions is a direct result of condensation. because the underside of vinyl cushions will not absorb it, it simply sits until it evaporates and then ends up back in the same place as it recondenses. An absorbent sheet will not CREATE more condensation, it absorbs what is already there, and because it is locked into the fibres, it does not evaporate as quickly, thereby possibly lessening the amount of moisture in the air.

Note the "possiblies" and "maybes" in the above. All i know is that it has worked for us for the past few seasons. I know longer grimace when I reach under the v-berth and pilot berth cushions to rummage in the lockers.

Huh. That's just what that stuff is designed to do, of course, trap lots of moisture.

It must be acting as a thermal insulator between the cushion and the hull so you don't get condensation in the first place. I kind of prefer the idea of eliminating the gradient altopgether through improved airflow, but if you go the insulation route then I have read of people having okay results using sheets of foam board insulation (pink stuff, blue stuff, whatever) under the bunks.

Had hypervent in our last boat and it worked well. It's not cheap as someone mentioned but it is effective. Be sure to shop price as some sell it by the foot others by the yard.
