Bayway Marina NJ

I may be relocating to Cape May next year (Middle Township not City of Cape May), any comments on Bayway Marina on the Delaware Bay side off Rt 47 at Bidwell Creek would be welcome.

Welcome to the shore!

I don't have info on that marina - just thought I'd be neighborly...

Thank you for the welcome Ottos.

I anticipate heading down to Cape May in the spring and keeping the boat there for at least a year even if my move does not work out.

Over winter I will be installing a new inboard, my current outboard is just not safe propulsion for the Cape May Canal on a summer weekend with power boats, the feeling of panic comes back as I re-live the experience at the bay entrance.

I love the bay and the feeling along the creeks and shore line of being in a remote wild place, so I am looking at potential marinas on the bay side.

As I said - I'm not familiar with the place, but a quick web search turned up all favorable comments.

The only other marina I've been to on the bay is a little further north in Greenwich on the Cohansey. I had friends that were stopping by on their way back to the islands. They swore by the mechanic there.

Good luck with your search!

I like the marina at Greenwich, the resturant is also excellent, and great "Jersey Fresh" produce on the farm stands in the area. Greenwich is a very old village with an origin Quaker Meeting House from the mid 1600's, and the burial site of the first "white" child to die in the colony, just outside the village.

The Cohansey from marina to bay is suprising quicker than it would appear on the charts.

But my heart is set on Cape May

I stayed there once 4 years ago, and it was pleasant. Not fancy at all, but enough for me. Very short run to the Bay.

What is your draft? I was told by some of the larger sailboats that they had to watch the tide, but I think there is a consistent 7 feet in the middle. It is also a reasonably sheltered inlet, uncomplicated, in most strong wind directions.

Getting in some of the slips is tough when the tide is running. Other are fine.

Plenty of bugs at night... but that's everywhere I guess. Good fishing.
