Blogs can be work. But I have kept a Blog since I moved to my "new" boat in 2007. I try to add a few lines and pictures from every sail. While I don't always get pictures, I do add a few lines about each sail. Sometimes i bring my SPOT and show the sail's track. I mostly daysail so these are usually short sails. I add any updates to the boat and if appropriate, I add links to suppliers. I mention favorite hangouts and restaurants and watering holes.

I suppose one major difference is this is not a blog on one of the many sailing blog sites. I registered my own website so I do everything.

One nice feature I added is a cluster map. That shows not only a count but also a world map with the location of all the visitors. It has proven to be an interesting source of visitors.

Chris, in today's crazy economy? Slap yourself hard on both cheeks! If you are going to sell a boat and you have a buyer at the right price--DO IT WHILE YOU CAN. Another month or two, the buyers start to go away for the winter, or the market takes another reasonless jag, and you may own that boat for another year. Or take a huge cut in price.
If you don't want to sell it, accept that and move on. If you do (or will, or must) sell it, TAKE A REASONABLE OFFER while you can.
You can always move into a "suite" business hotel for a month if you need a place after your house sells, and will cost way less than getting stuck with winter storage for your boat.
In this crazy economy?

I have been using blogspot and was able to add a live traffic feed from "feedjit"

I also try to log every trip and include pictures. I started my blog in 2008 with the intent that it would be my captain's log. Every so often, I go back to the beginning and check out each post. It is amazing how many memories come flooding back!

I was reading the pelican blog a lot too and was quite disappointed they stopped. Always wondered why..

Blogs stop for various reasons, lack of interest to write, seemingly lack of interest from others, posting comments and encouragement can bring a blog back to life so I always like to be sure to say something nice when I come across something interesting/helpful/cool. Everybody loves to know that people are interested in them when they take so much time to let everybody know what they are up to. That's my best guess why people stop writing.
