Plastic bottle yacht sails into Sydney

So, they finally made it:

"The Plastiki is made from 12,500 PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles and has sailed through the Heads.

It's expected to arrive at Darling Harbour around 12:00pm (AEST)."

Call me a bleeding heart liberal if you will but this puts a smile on my fuzzy old face.

They are making their point and doing so in an admirable manner.

Look forward to having a butchers when I'm down at the boatshow.

Seems pretty pointless to me since plastic boats have been popular for 50 years.

He's not the banker. His rich father is the banker. This guy is still trying to find himself, make a point, or it doesn't really matter b/c it beats working for a living.

Good on him/them.

We might go check out the boat on Friday......going to the Sydney boat show anyway, and this thing would probably be A better boat than 90% of the crap on the marina at the show

It was actually a fairly effective way of communicating their point......and they kept their message pretty simple all along.....does it kill any of us to not use so many plastic bags?? Hmmmm probably not.
