purchasing Federally registered sailboat

Looks like I may be purchasing a Federally registered sailboat. Anyone have an experience/advice on how the title transfer works? Any info would be appreciated. Thanx in advance

The title transfer, bill of sale, and USCG documentation, including any name change was handled in my recent purchase in Mexico by the escrow company in Washington state. You can change the name later, with 2 or 3 forms and 2 or 3 hundred dollars, if what I was told is correct.

There is a USCG vessel documentation website, with all the forms and instructions you need. You can call them for further clarification.
