Registering a EU boat as Australian

Hi guys

If i purchase u EU yacht VAT tax not paid and deregister that vessel and register it as a Australian flagged vessel do i have to pay the Australian VAT amount upon registering that vessel or do i pay the Australian vessel when it is imported into Australian waters ?

When you import it but remember that Oz GST is payable on an amount as per valuation by the satan and his minions otherwise known as the ATO.
SimonV imported his boat from the US so he would be the person to ask but it is my understanding that the GST (and don't forget Import Duty) is payable on the cost of the boat plus transport. Even if you sail her back here it is possible they will levy an amount to cover freight.
