Snorkelking with Stingrays - Photos

We heard stingrays like to be hand fed and get real friendly. We cut up some fish and tried it. [EDIT]

The most amazing thing is the stingrays seem to want to have their heads rubbed, kind of like a dog. Did not expect that.

CalebD will become famous soon enough
Was that on Grand Cayman?
It is quite an experience to be in the water with these rays.
They do have a poisonous barb back by their tails you need to avoid.

Thanks for the reply. Bora Bora. I never really thought about stingrays except to try and not step on them.

No, he swam over one and startled it..and it stabbed him in return. If he had been feeding them, they probably wouldn't have stabbed him.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

I asked if it was at Grand Cayman as they run sting ray feeding snorkel/scuba cruises there. The rays are quite tame and seemingly harmless. They glide through the water like some kind of bizarre Star Trek alien craft and suck the food off your hand with their mouths. We fed them chopped bits of squid but you tried not to get your hand too close to their mouths as they really can suck and will give you a nice hickey if you're not careful.
Likely a different species lives in Bora Bora.
Poor Steve Irwin.
