We followed Bismarck's case on Sailing Anarchy for the whole two years, and many of us sent him or his attorney money, and corresponded with some of the Lake County locals who knew what was going on. "Sailors stick together" was the watchword against the overreaching of the county law enforcement and prosecutors.
A local jury cleared him. I hope the federal jury will aim the rifle, that for so long had been pointed at Dinius, at the CYA locals who unfairly went after him as the 2-knot sailor and gave a pass to the 40-knot go-fast sheriff who ran him down from astern and killed an innocent woman in the cockpit, right back at the real wrongdoers. The photos of that O'Day 27 after the collision will set your teeth on edge.
Good luck to him in the SF federal court. It's long overdue.
