14-year-old Laura Dekker sets sail!

Laura is expecting to set sail at Saturday, august 21, 2010. After a great sail from The Netherlands to Portimao, Portugal, she is doing her last preparations. I wish her fair winds and a save trip home.

Go Girl!

Relationships are everything to me..everything else in life are just tools to enhance them.

The purchase price of a boat is just the admittance fee to the dance...you still have to spend money on the girl...so court one with something going for her with pleasing and desirable character traits others desire as well... or you could find yourself in a disillusioned relationship contemplating an expensive divorce.

I wish her fair winds and a good voyage but still can't understand why anyone would want to non-stop circumnavigate. We have gotten spoiled by the food in the port towns we've sailed to. )

Please note that Laura isn't planning a non-stop circumnavigation, nor is she planning a southern ocean route. Her route is a Panama-canal/Red Sea/Mediterranean route IIRC, and spaced out over almost two years.

I wish her luck but would point out that some of the worst pirate infested waters are along her route and that caution should be taken to avoid incident.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
