You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Another great thread Ron, thanks for leaving the note on my boat, I only just got last night. I was working up in the Okisollo Channel at the time, sorry I missed you, maybe next time.

Just to parrot Ray, where is that rock quarry, it doesn't show on my charts. Is it at the end of the Vananda creek? Never heard of it but thanks to you I need to go there.

Those sunsets were amazing, I think I saw the same red sun in your photo, it was incredible but I didn't like the smokey haze much, it seems to be gone for the most part now.

Steve

Simply amazing!
We would love to a trip like this in the next few years.
I have three young sons who love spending time IN the water... What water temperature do you get up there in the summer?

In the Gulf Islands the water rarely gets over 62-64F... but further north, esp in Pendrell Sound it can go as high as mid 70s. Other areas fall in between. Oddly there are pockets of warm water in Howe Sound (relatively south).

In any event we swam just about everywhere this year.. if the water wasn't particularly warm, the air was hot enough to need the cool down. That's one thing I appreciate when swimming on our home waters vs swimming in the Caribbean.. there's no doubt it's more refreshing up here.

Hi Steve.. glad you got my note.. surprised you were away so long!

Hi Ray.. this is a place to put on your list alright!!

As to the quarries... they are about 3 miles by road along the way to the Blubber Bay ferry.. apparently if you kayak/dinghy to the head of Sturt Bay at high tide you can bushwack up to the road and it's a much shorter route. We were fortunate enough to have access to a vehicle.

Great photo essay Ron...Good to have you back but good to have you out there enjoying what we are all gathered around here for anyway.

"Go Simple...Go Large"

Relationships are everything to me..everything else in life are just tools to enhance them.

The purchase price of a boat is just the admittance fee to the dance...you still have to spend money on the girl...so court one with something going for her with pleasing and desirable character traits others desire as well... or you could find yourself in a disillusioned relationship contemplating an expensive divorce.

Faster,

Did you get lost up near Redondo Island? The track in the first photo looks like your navigator was a drunk gone walkabout!

Glad you had a good holiday. It's a beautiful area and you're lucky to be able to cruise it often. Your photos brought back fond memories of our time there in '06.

Thanks for the map Ron, that's quite hike-able from the gov't dock. Not too sure about bushwacking but maybe.
