Mooring Question

My boat was having major mechanical issues and had to be moored in a location I could not get anchors to hold, with no power or electrical I left her tide off to a "No Wake bouy" in Miami's Marine Stadium cove. I had to leave her there. Is this legal in a desperate situation?

Those buoys are not mooring buoys and are not meant to take the weight of vessels tied up to it. I hope the boat is still there when you return. You'll be lucky if you only get a ticket. You should have had the boat towed home. Holding is good all over Biscayne Bay, maybe you need a Manson Supreme.

I don't know if it is legal, it is most likely not legal. I know that nuns and cans are not legal to moor to, nor are mid channel markers. I assume it would be appropriate for a few hours. For more than a day, I would suggest moving her and putting down a hook.

You don't need a manson supreme.

Unless a mooring is a mooring there could be anything on the other end-I once put down an old auto cylinder head to mark a potential mooring site and someone moored onto it!
