Off to the Apostles

Well all, I leave early Wednesday afternoon for a trip up to the Apostle Islands on Lake Superior. I am going to be getting my ASA103/104 up there and we will be sailing on a 36' Islander. I am hoping that the wifi connection at the dock works so I can post some pics and updates about my little adventure. I will also be posting to my humble little blog;

Dan's Sailing Blog

I will be bringing my Sail with Courtney flag and wristbands and will be sure to post pics of the flag flying this Saturday. The weather is looking really nice for the weekend as well. Lower 80's and winds about 15-17 except for Thursday when it will be about 6. Oh well can't have all days be perfect.

Wish me luck!

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Sounds like a fun trip cb. Bring back some pics - and some feedback on the 103/104 course. I'm interested.

Back from the Apostle Islands.

Well I returned on Sunday evening, everything was pretty much a success. Saturday's winds were too high but other than that it all went really well. Here are some pics of sailing in the Apostle Islands of Lake Superior. Beautiful area and I can't wait to go back at the end of the month for a run to deliver the boats from Pike's Bay to Spirit Lake Marina Duluth for winter storage. Yes, we are already thinking about that here in MN.

This is Aerie. A 36' Islander.

My berth for 4 nights.

The marina.

A view of Lake Superior on my way to Pike's Bay, northern WI.

Off the bow.

A view to stern.

Some scenery.

A little more scenery.

The blog has more pics and some vids from each day, also more detail as to how each day went and what it all entailed.
