Renaming My Boat

I renamed my 19' West Wight Potter last weekend. For your entertainment, the ceremony is chronicled here.

"It ain't all buttons and charts, little albatross. You know what the first rule of sailing is? Love. You take a boat in to sea that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of worlds. Love keeps her afloat when she oughtta founder... tells ya she's hurtin' 'fore she keens… makes her a home." Captain Malcom Reynolds, Paraphrased

Nice write-up and good to see you're starting out on the correct path. Neptune and Mother Nature have long memories for those who fail to show proper respect.

Besides, you got to wear a 'silly hat', have friends over, and enjoy the day. Sounds like a winner all around to me.

Thanks for the details, Captain Bill! Hopefully it won't be too long before we hold a naming ceremony for our 1978 Mac VN23. From what I understand, she's never had an 'official' name, poor girl!

Very emotional and deep. It's good to remind our parents' dreams and if possible to make our dreams come true. Sometimes we can't. That's life.
So thanks for sharing your life and your dreams with beauty.
