I just passed my Ham tests on Friday - Technical and General. I'm a bit pissed though that I missed 2 questions on the Tech, and 1 on the General. I wanted to ace the things. And they don't tell you what questions you missed, so you have to live with it! #*@#(*#@$ On to the Extra...

Good Deal, I passed my General on Sat. 100%. took 32hrs of study. what I used for study was HamTestOnline™ - Ham Radio Exam Courses you pay a fee, but you have 2 yrs to use it. each time you log in it remembers were you left off and what questions you missed. it's perrty cool way to study.

I just downloaded the AARL Q and A's to Kindle for the iPad, and there are some app's from Apple as well. Spent a hell of a lot of time on it, but the technology made it a snap to drive through the study - even reviewing and taking mock tests in bed.

I'm interested in becoming a HAM operator - what time commitment was involved to properly prepare for the exam? Did you write the Canadian exam or the American one? Do you have any other information that I might find useful in deciding if I should take the plunge?
In Calgary, you can contact the Calgary Amateur Radio Association (Welcome to CARA)

To assist in studying for the Canadian test, Industry Canada has an exam bank:

I used this to learn morse code.

PilotMorse Morse Code Tutor for Aviation

Or you can get the 5x5 software to study for the Ham for $30 and get the morse software for free. I have used this software to pass a number of tests.

Congratulations.

I started studying for the Tech license, stopped, now have to start all over again. Need to find my Gordon West book. Now that I have a boat, I definitely want to be able to use my Icom T90A HT.
