Pamlico sound in a Northerly Wind?

Hey all,

Have to make this brief as I'm at work but I'm trying to get an idea of the chop I could encounter this weekend with a moderate-fresh breeze in the shollow Pamlico Sound. We will be sailing a 40ft sloop from Washington, NC to Ocracoke, NC. NOAA's forecast out of Ocracoke is as follows with transit days across the sound being Friday & Sunday.

I posted here as I know there are several local sailors who frequent these boards. Looking for some sea (sound) stories of how nasty the Pamlico gets, especially in a N-NNE wind. I'm thinking we'll have a wet cockpit with the chop & wind on the beam.

Thanks for the input and sorry about the large images.

kananumpua, how was it? When my wife and I start sailing we'll be sticking to in and around the Pamlico Sound, with weekend sails similar to this, so I'm curious about the better places to sail around the Pamlico, what types of boats are best suited, etc.
