anchorages in Key West

I'm planning on spending a month in Key West. I looked at Garrison Bight mooring field as a possibility. I have a mac 22 with a swing keel so I can go places with only a foot of depth. Plus I dont have a dinghy just a two man inflatable raft. Is there any shallow protected areas close to shore I can drop my hook?
