I wouldn't worry about a "definition". Just do what you want/can do and enjoy it. It's more a state of mind, than anything exactly defined.

I think its more a way of life or even a philosophy, rather than a certain amount of time aboard.

Cruising is, to me, visiting places via water. Sort of like a road trip, but with a lot more water.
