looking for a new boat.

hi there.
i have a tanzer 7.5 1983 at the moment, been sailing with it for 2 years now.
but its to small since all i do in summer is sailing ect.
ive been looking on yatchworld for boats ranging under 35 feet.
my budget is 25 000 $.
can i get a good boat at that lengh at this price or i will have a lot of work to do on it ?
i spent lots time on the net looking but some boats are realy cheap i found it hard to see whats a deal or not.i am doing mostly shore cruising since i live in the bay des chaleurs thats in eastern part or quebec province.
i would like to know what type of boat to avoid (bad overall) and such.
anyone welcome to share is idea.
salute and see ya outhere.
p.s sorry for my poor english.

Shop around, and you can probably find a pretty decent boat 30' or so for that price. Going larger will be tough.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

before i drive 500 miles to look at a boat i just want to make sure it worth it.

as far as too far to go look. just ask here most here will gladly go look at a boat for you. it may not be more than a "she looks fine or run away" but it is a good start.

Yep here is a thread on people willing to help you choose a boat.

Local boat buying assistance

Need to narrow down what you want in a boat. What models would fit your needs. How far are you willing to go to see it (willing to deliver it from). Then try to find boats in that region then someone to kick the tires for you wherever the boat may be. Try to talk enough to the broker or owner to narrow down the boat before using someone to check out the boat.

Something to keep in mind there is a large difference between a 30 and 35 footer. You will definitely find a boat in excellent condition in the 30' range for your price but at 35' it may need work. Also as far as I know Canada did not make a bad yacht. Maybe someone can correct me with a list of the lemons from Canada. But I hear excellent things about C&C and CSY boats as well as Tanzer.
