Boat Registration Blues

Ah me...government departments...you have got to love 'em.

Boat rego due end October.

End September send payment.

Beginning of November ring NSW Maritime to enquire when we'd get new rego sticker and/or why we hadn't already received it.

Answer....

Eight Weeks...EIGHT WEEKS....what ?...only took two weeks last year...ah yes but this year we have installed an all new upgraded you beaut computer system and data base......

You have gotta love 'em.

The other side of this coin...

I just went to the RI Department Of Environmental Management (Boat Registration) to register my new to me boat... Looking through their website I expected to pay $250 to have her re-registered in my name.

Teller: "Do you still have the stickers?"
Me: "Uh, I guess so. 'You mean the ones on the bow?"
Teller: "Ok, that will be ten dollars, and you'll be good until 2012."
Me: "Do you take cash?!?!"

I wanted to get out of here ASAP - before she changed her mind.

Total to register and document the boat $97 for 2011! WooHoo!!
