I'm on two other boards that closed registration because of trolls. Now you have to know someone to become a member and it's nice and peaceful.

i just cant believe that people dont have anything better to do with their time! i mean, i could see some kid doing it on some kind of a lewd site or something for jollies, but in an enviornment of (well overwhelmingly) astute erudiate conversation i just dont see the angle. any thoughts on the possible motivation for this? some wack-a-doo 'waste peoples time' fetish? lol

I'd say attention is the main goal. Whether positive or negative, doesn't seem to matter in the end.

Yep. It's all about getting attention. Good or bad doesn't matter. That's why those who think they are going to "teach them a lesson" by berating the trolls are actually just playing right into their hands. Best thing is to just quit playing their game and completely ignore them once you realize someone is a troll.
