Interesting take on the use of an old, rescued wooden boat.

Some of you have read my Seasmoke threads. Here's a Portuguese racing sailor's view on modifying the boat. Interesting... The purists might scream but it's better than ending up in a dumpster..

My take on Seasmoke

Tell me what ya think....

Cool idea really! Would it be cheaper, doubt it...

Heh-heh. CC, from our conversation over at SA, I think you nailed what could be the name of that beast:

"Tits on a Boar"
(I gotta remember that one for future use)

I hope Mr. Perry chimes in with some reasonable ideas - and that you get a taker. It will be very cool to see her come back to life.

That was mainly in reference to the sailing (read as racing) capabilities of the boat after the conversion. I think the underbody would kill performance.

The hotrod idea would be like drawing a goatee on the Mona Lisa

There's not that many around anymore, but, there's a big following here in SD, most, if not all, look as good as they ever did and fetch a decent penny

As I mentioned elsewhere, I think it's a great way to spend $100 000 to build a boat with a value of $40K that would take 5 years to sell. Unless you are building something like this to order as a bespoke customer boat, or building it for yourself, I think you'd be better off restoring her to her original lines.

But, if you think you can sell her and turn a profit, go for it. What say ye, CC?

+1. Giu should put his money where his design is - then you're golden. And he'd then have a very....ahm....unique boat to peddle. He can call the design the "New Shoe".

Hey, after the conversion on the BLUENOSE... which BTW I thought was great, this could be kinda cool.

Just don't tell Alex you posted this here.

I'll have to run over to A-S and reply.

If ya mean converting the boat without an owner and trying to sell her? No thanks. If any work is done without a new owner/sponsor, it will be restoring her BACK to Bristol....
