svTrekka is on a distinguished road
My 1st mate is a real dog

As far as 1st mates go he’s just about perfect, although he will on an occasion attempt to chase a jet-sky down the port side as they rocket by. On the upside he’s kind of quiet mostly keeping his opinions to himself; he doesn’t take up much space and is willing to let me know if any visitors enter our anchorage. I use to be a lone sailor, single handing about 99% of the time but now that Toby has signed on as first mate I’m enjoying his company.

Now if he barks when in the fog, you'll have a natural fog signal...

A lot of good boat dogs can detect other boats in the fog far long before the humans can...

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
