Yacht Clubs in Boston

I kept my Contessa moored at the Boston Harbor Sailing Club downtown last season. It was a great location but pricy.

Is anyone a member or know anything about the Columbia yacht club or South Boston yacht club? South Boston yacht club was recommended to me and I inquired but it sounds like membership is tight. Also I'd need an invite.

Costs in Boston area?

What do you consider pricey for Boston? I've often thought about coming down the Hudson, then heading East and making that trip some June and trying to catch a Sox game. Also, are there moorings/slips available for a night or two on the Charles? Would like to explore there as well. Best of luck.

Transient moorings and slips are available... prices vary. Tickets for Sox games are sometimes tough to get..

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

When I was working in the financial district in Boston in the 1980's, (and newly single), I parked my 37 foot sloop in a marina downtown near the Italian district for two weeks; hung suits in my hanging lockers, and walked to work every day. In the evenings, co-workers would come out for an evening sail. The only aggravating part of all this was continually having to sail by Logan airport under the planes continually landing or taking off; but, it was a great time nonetheless.

Yeah the Boston harbor sailing club seemed to always have a few extra. Look them up. Looks like it's $45 a day.

sailingfool will become famous soon enough
Cottage Park in Winthrop is a good club Cottage Park Yacht Club and traditionally has had spots for new members, you just need to contact a principal or two for an intro. Go over some weekend and participate in the frostbiting and you'll be all set.

Ditto for Savin Hill in Dorchester Savin Hill Yacht Club - Home.

I know to each his own,,,but I love flying under the big jets landing, especially when they land on the 4l and 4R runways, coming in over the harbor.
