Garffin Clue
Garffin started a couple of threads at the end of September about a new old boat, and going south again. I, and others, worried a bit that he stopped posting. Going cruising in fall on an older wooden boat could bring trouble. Today on my way to Setauket I saw an older wooden boat on blocks at Port Jefferson. She looked familiar. I went back and looked her over carefully. I am 90% certain she is the same boat. Same profile, colors, fittings. Home port in Haddam Neck, Ct., on the Connecticut River. She also looks like she needs refastening (I have experience). My guess is that he was misled about the condition of the hull. Out on the Sound, she leaked steadily. He wisely chose to lay the boat up instead of straining her in the ocean.
Garffin, if you see this and want help with boat, PM me. I have decades of ownership of wooden boats.
