Sounds to me like you need to spend a few hours sailing before you attempt a trip like you are talking about. And stay here and read to learn too. You will find out there are alot of GOOD boats on the market that can handle such a trip the thing is right now it doesn''t sound like YOU can handle it. There is alot more to a trip like that than having the right boat. Most of all you need the right information funtioning with your Gray matter computer.

The last time I checked, the USA had not yet annexed every country on the planet. So at the very least, expect to be asked for your passport whenever you travel abroad.

With regard to what else you''ll need, contact the US State Department, the Embassy of China, and the embassy of any other country you think you''ll want to visit.

As far as the size and type of boat, the answer will depend on your: sailing ability, financial resources, living requirements, and your luck or lack thereof. ;^)

what you need, if your serious, is to first do some day sailing, then crew on some coastal runs, and then convince some people to let you crew on their boat. Remember, be honest. Alot of people would rather teach a beginner, then deal with someone who knows what they''re doing (or thinks they do) but doesnt do it the same way the guy who owns the boat does.

And yes, you need a passport.
