3rd time unlucky

Well unlucky might be the wrong word. This 77 year old apparently experienced voyager lost his 25' boat and life near Cape Reinga, while setting off to Norfolk Island. He had been rescued twice in recent years. The boat was not thought to be in great shape. He had not sought clearance and would have been unlikely to get it. Report. That is quite unfortunate but it seems that he should have done some work on his boat before setting out. Unfortunate but avoidable. Just have to say at least he went out doing what he wanted to do, we should all be so lucky.

Only having stood at the lighthouse imagine it can be quite wild thereabouts having seen what the Tasman sea can offer. There has been quite a bit of rough weather recently thereabouts according to my daughter whose place looks out across the mouth of the Hokianga and is called four winds for good reason!
