HVVega is on a distinguished road
Just to introduce myself and my boat

Hi all been around the water from about 6 years old. Skippered a load of old classics and even a class "A" Tall Ship once. Spend most of my time "all over the place". More than glad to share experiences or advice (sometimes even good). Always ready to help out another sailor. For my boat best just have a look at sailvega | 118 year old sailing vessel for humanitarian relief or the website at Historical Vessel VEGA As you will see most of my experience is on really old boats but of those I know a lot. Feel free to ask questions or pose problems. Will be happy to answer best I can. That is if we are not at sea where I can't get internet then you might have to wait a while.

Great minds I already have a link to your very nice site on our blog. Maybe you didn't notice. Glad you like the site and blog we work really hard to keep Vega is top condition and love showing her off. Even if she does get rather scruffy every year when we are making our deliveries.

Welcome. Your mission and the boat are just fantastic. I'd happily live out the rest of my life serving on your boat and dedicating myself to your mission.

Smile The Other Vega

Cool Stuff HV. We spent our three-week honeymoon as crew in HM Bark Endeavour in '99 sailing from Vancouver to Kona (Woody Woodson, SV Lynx, was a shipmate on that voyage), then my bride took off again for the Kauai to Fiji leg, another three weeks. She was also part of the delivery crew bringing Spike Africa from San Diego to Nawiliwili in '03. Now we are cruising in our little plastic classic.

Gardner McKay inspired me to go to sea and, while I like the idea of sailing in a century old wooden ship, and who doesn't, I have seen the reality and I don't think I could deal with it.

You are a better man than I am and I salute you.

I don't mind the idea or reality of sailing a half-century old wooden boat. The best part being that when she's a century old, she'll no longer be my problem- she'll be my kids'.
