Florida Bareboat Recommendations
Hey guys (non-gender specific term, more of a general greeting, ladies please also reply as my crew is also my finance') -
I've got a few days to burn second week of Feb and would like to bareboat 3 to 5 days in south Florida - been brutal here in Atlanta....
Any specific recommendations for which company, a good itinerary, areas to avoid, areas to focus on, anchorages, marinas, etc (basically, can you plan a trip for us....)
Qualification's not an issue - We're comfortable as a crew of 2 on anything up to about 45' with a minimum of say 32' for a short trip.
We're generally familiar with FL waters and the geographical layout of the Keys, Miami, Naples areas - but have never sailed those areas or waters. We prefer the Atlantic side to the Gulf, but could be persuaded otherwise.
Would appreciate any and all specifics! Thanks!
Cheers

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

The short answer - oh yes!
We were high school sweethearts (she was always the one I let get away), she sailed with me summer of '74 on the Chesapeake in my day sailor - after 35 years apart we got back together - same spark.
Last Feb under full sail down Sir Francis Drake Channel - she said yes and I slipped a ring on her finger.
We came home, closed the deal on our '82 H30 and raced her, sailed her, cruised her, fished her - did all we could do all year on Lake Allatoona. Named her 'Bout Time.
Cindy loves the beach and likes sailing, I like the beach and love sailing - last I checked, I can get her to most good beaches by boat......
We'll probably tie the knot back on Sandy Spit sometime in the next year - most beautiful isle beach we've ever found.
I love our story, thanks for asking!

Congrats... marrying the right person is key... BTW, I was poking a little fun at your fat-fingering of the word "fiancée", but it think you missed it....

Congratulations on the engagement,
Just came across your post.
I am in the grater Atlanta area as well and will be heading down to Key Largo later this week. I am signed up for some ASA Certifications with Reef Runner Sailing. I have my boat on Lake Lanier. I'll be curious to see what you find as I will hoping to go back down in the Spring.
