Burning of the Socks Party?

Anyone do this?
Vernal equinox.....any suggestions?
I assume best at the water, but if foul weather prevails, ok to do at home?
Any good incantations or prayers that must be recited?
Rum mandatory! Any preferred labels?

Sabreman will become famous soon enough
It's a tradition in Eastport, MD (across Spa Creek from Annapolis) on 21 Mar every year.

...and I would say that this winter has blown.
Ever notice with boat plumbing that everything either sucks or blows?
Burning my socks? I don't think so. At least not while I'm within sniffing distance.
I do hope to be there at the equinox though.
Does anyone know why the 'ceremony' involves the burning of socks? Made up answers are ok too.

I don't know about sock burning, But am still miffed about missing all of the Bra Burning Parties because they were being held while I was at sea. Now that is a bummer.
