alternator question

Hi,

Is it possible to get and alternator and use it with an outboard to charge a battery? Or must I get an engine with this facility the first day? I have a 6hp evenrude and want some setup that will charge a battery for me...

thanks for any suggestions

alternator question

You didn''t mention how much power you might need from your battery. i.e. how many amp hours will you be drawing from the battery that you expect the alternator to re-charge.

Most small outboard alternators are very low output affairs as compared to automobiles or inboard alternators. Before you spend your money, make sure the alternator has enough output to keep your battery charged.
