In Europe & Asia they have the Bidet... A what??

On Cruisers & Sailing we were talking about the Bidet.
Do you have one on your boat/yacht? Or do you clean the Old Fashion Way?
As our friends across the pound sees it.

On my boat, the bidet is just over the railing from the poop deck. You can use the ladder to get back aboard. If we are underway, you better have a harness and tether.

I have sailed one boat (Nauticat 37) with a bidet faucet, but no separate bidet. We never used it.

This proves that most Americans do not know what a BIDET is and what it is used for.
With a BIDET you don't need to use Toilet Paper because cleans the same area that TP is used for.
Wet down there?? A quick brust from your SO's hair dryer will take care of that minor detail.
But many of us Americans are still living in the dark ages.....

Couple of boats we were on this week has bidet faucets....both European...Hanse and Wauquiez.....seems like a good idea to me, maybe somewhat wasteful of water though.

Bidés are a latin thing. We use them, the Italians, Spanish and French. Corretion, the women of these countries use them. They have to do with that particular hygiene care the women have one week each month.

I am quite a man from the dark ages and for me in the summer the sea water provides me with almost all the hygiene I need, for a week or so. Not with the ladies that have the need to wash their intimate parts. If a bidé was not so big, or the head so tiny, it would be a great addiction to the boat because it would save a lot of water that is otherwise wasted in a shower, I mean, if you have several ladies aboard as I normally have.

Gosh, I live in Hew Hampshire AND know what bidet does. I once worked on a house that had a GOLD bidet [really]. Initially I thought it strange to have water fountain in a bathroom.
Real men would never have one in a man boat. What the hell are toe rails for !!

Being a plumber in the past i'm pretty familiar with them. Most people that have them don't use them, toilet paper is faster - in the US that is. But, yes most lame-men wouldn't have a clue and wonder what the second toilet with drain is for. They are wonderful for hemorrhoids, from what i've been told!!!

Japan has the best of both worlds. On a boat maybe not practical but in your home would be great.
