Well I always say karma is a b*tch. But this is way over what I was expecting. I just cannot believe I found the original gauge at a boat yard sale.

Bilge pump - replaced with one that has an external float switch and wired to electrical panel with a toggle switch to run it. works great.

I also ( against my own will ) did buy the spinnaker sail from the yard sale as well.
35' long with 15 wide.... purple, blue, and white... haven't tried it, but will this weekend.

Ok, also I got these 2 separate 'boxes' with my 10 purchase of the gauge cluster.
http://www.sailnet.com/photogallery/.../ppuser/166433

( i know I need an account with a photo sharing site - but those are blocked by work )...

The top 'box' says 'power and digital lighting' - same as my original..
http://www.sailnet.com/photogallery/.../ppuser/166433

The second box says 'display mode ' - wind speed and depth' and 'depth alarm'.

Since the gauges light up when I plug in the serial plug and flip the nav breaker.. i am good there.

Now how/where do these hook up to the transducers ( that are under than cabinets in cabin ) ?

From what i can see now - my original box is wired to electrical panel and then the serial cable from it to the gauges, but where do the transducer wires come into play ? am I missing a 'piece' ?

thanks.

OK, i went out to the boa last night to 'trace' the wiring.

3 wires are coming out of the 'original box '.

1 - to transducer under cabinet in cabin - maybe depth ?
2 - running under the floor on port side - maybe for speed ? ( wind or boat ) ?
3 - To distribution panel

# 1 above -
the wire leaving the 'original' box and then go to another 3x3x3 box ( very small ). no labels, no ID#, nada... then leave this box and then to the transducer.. very strange.

The gauges only light up - no numbers for depth or speed.

Alan, the boatspeed and depth transducers are often combined in one unit with one cable feeding them, so I would guess that IF your setup includes windspeed (always a sensor aloft by itself) and speed+depth, that one connection is for windspeed up the mast, while the other is for a thru-hull transducer for the pair.
Just an educated guess--since I don't know that rig. You'd have to check the wiring you found, see where it goes and what's left at the other end to try checking that. Although, if there's a marine electronics dealer near you that used to carry their stuff, sometimes asking for the oldest guy in the shop will bring about some hints. :-)

I do not know if the 'speed' gauge is for wind speed or boat speed.. doesn't specify.

But since the boatspeed and depth is usually 1 transducer (?) that would indicate i have all 3. ?
