Engine: Mercedes OM 636 series. Got one?

I have a complete set of FACTORY manuals.

The MB OM 636 series diesels, produced in the 1960's, were considered one of the best marine engines in the world. I'm wondering if anybody still has one? My boat was originally equipped with one, but it has since been replaced. I found a full set of factory manuals recently and I'd like to get them to someone who can use them. I kid you not, 4 ORIGINAL FACTORY manuals. This would be a gold mine of information for anybody who might still have one of these engines. I really don't want to throw them away, I know somewhere there's somebody staring at an old diesel thinking, "damn, I sure wish I had a manual for this thing..."

Thanks in advance!

Hi McMikeJr

I´ve got OM636 in my boat. I´m very interested in your manuals! How much do you ask for them?

I also have a OM636 and am interested in any manuals. If they've made their way to Finland I'd be happy to pay for copies sent to the US.

Kevin,

the manuals have indeed made their way to Finland. They are in heavy use since I´m now overhauling my OM636.

I could copy some small parts of the manuals at my office but not all. I´d be in trouble if I did that.

If you want, I can have them copied by some commercial copying service. Do you want me to check what that would cost?

There are four manuals that weigh over 10 kilograms alltogether. When I got the manuals, I payed 200 dollars for the postage (FedEx). I just checked and the postage from Finland to the US would be about 150 dollars (10kgs priority mail).

How shall we proceed?

(Btw. there´s a similar workshop manual for sale on eBay for 59,99 USD.)

Best Regards

Kari
