hi new member here

Hi - my name is Pam. I am new to sailing. I love it! I have an extraordinary dream to sail the world in the next few years (more about me later!). We live in TX and we 1st want to sail to Panama and back. I have a couple questions, when is the best time of year to catch the prevailing winds? Would it be better to leave from TX, and go through the Gulf down to Panama, or leave from FL then to Panama?

Leave from Texas if your boat is there. Always keep your float plans simple and with room for varying them.
Oh Yah! Welcome to SN.

A fellow Texan! I'm in California now, and never had the opportunity to sail the Gulf, so keep us posted!
