Bad Choices

Just read a thread about the grounding of the boat at Fire Island.

It was argued a bit in their about whether it was bad luck or bad choices that put them in harm's way. I call it bad luck.

You want bad choices? Got a perfect example for ya.

We've all made bad choices and we've all had bad luck. The real problem comes about when a bad choice or two gets combined with bad luck and a synergistic effect leads to big problems.

Agreed that there are bad luck scenarios but not sure that falling asleep on watch falls into that category, which I understood is what happened in the Fire Island grounding.

If a dirty bottom slows you down what do you think it does to your boat

Nope, without any doubt, that is just plain old bad luck. I can't think of a single bit of preparation that could prepare someone for that.
