I have no tie ups with the man but he is an old beardy hack - expat Brit living and sailing on the North West Coast of North Ameriac

he is so well disciplined - he posts regularly and has a massive archive

It is always well written, thoughtful and free of literals

really, really good stuff

I am on the slug in Wisbech, its raining but the weather man is predicting two diamond days on Thursday and Friday, low tide late afternoon, so it should be ideal for exploring the Wash at low water - posting this, rather than sending to Wombat but for some readon I cannot PM him although I can post

pps - I do hope you are keeping up with all the latest anchor news. I have noticed with some dismay that the Divine Slug is seriously defficient in the New Generation anchor department. Update man, or you'll surely end up aground.

Vigor on his day is as good as Sleightholme

as for anchor

new one arrived

beside garage door as I write

chinese plough

but I am still sailing in places with good holding

so floppy plate is fine for the present time

currently on the boat in wisbech

weatherman promising two diamond days

low tide on the wash

new geography to explore

On the beach eh ? See what happens when you don't have a brand new Rocmanstress. don't say you were not warned.

Must say I like the look of the Wisbech area. Seems to be a few nice streams to explore but what in heavens name is that islandy thingy in the middle of the Wash ? Now that does look seriously interesting.

Actually . . . . . he's an expat South African. Used to be a journo in my home town when I was a lad (and trust me that was a long time ago).

as for the doughnut, Mr Wombat

in the 70s they had planned on turning the wash into a fresh water lake and built some test banks

now a massive gull colony

I will be putting the slug aground close to the colony once they start producing babies

DW, that is fascinating. I'm staggered that a google search seems to bring up absolutely nothing on the thing. I think I want one, maybe without the gulls. They may not be big but damn those wee islands pack a punch.

As for the previously mentioned Sr Vigor and his blog ... great stuff. I'm only about half way through but thoroughly enjoying the read. A blog with out pics or video, now how could that be worthwhile I hear you cry. Dead simple gentle folk, as DW said, the bugger knows how to write.
