Jam cleat on the jib

I had my jib repaired at the clew. I didn't ask, they didn't say they were going to, but they put two jam cleats at the clew. It's a roller furler jib.

What are those for?

Without photos, I'd guess that they are for a leech line and a foot line. Depends on exactly where they are.

If they are little, plastic jam cleats with what looks like parachute cord cleated in them, then yes, those are leach line and foot line adjusters.

You can tighten them or loosen them as needed to prevent a "helicopter effect" when sailing. (sounds like a flapping noise) Also good for preventing the leach and foot from fraying like the end of a flag.

We actually have two jam cleat onj our leech line on our furled 155 jib. One half way down and one near the bottom .They are for super trimming the sail shape. There are times I have used only the uppper one to pinch in on the twist.

Yup. They're for foot & leech lines. You haven't mentioned anything about 1/8" lines exiting the sail near the cleats. Are they there? A cleat without a line is like an outboard without a dinghy.
